Frankenstein Day - We’re not celebrating the book, movie or monster; rather, we’re celebrating the author Mary Shelley who wrote the book and created the monster in 1818. Except, I’m sort of confused. Why is that we associate images of the monster with the name ”Frankenstein?” The monster’s name is NOT Frankenstein. The mad scientist who created the monster, now his name is Victor Frankenstein. So friends, when we speak about Frankenstein the monster, can we please stop calling him Frankenstein? OH and another thing! Why are we all so frightened by the monster, and why do we call him a monster at all. He was initially described as a sweet, gentle soul in the first publication until popular culture made him out to be an evil demon.
