Neither Rain nor Snow Day - If you don’t know the real meaning behind today’s holiday, then I bet, just like me, you’re pretty annoyed. If there’s snow in the beginning of September, I won’t be sticking around to see it happen! Well, actually, we’ve got it alllll wrong. Coincidentally, “neither rain nor snow” appears in the official United States postal service creed at the James Farley Post Office in New York City. And, wouldn’t you know it, today’s the anniversary of the opening of the New York City post office in 1914. Just to be clear, this is not the motto of the post office or post men/women who deliver their rounds in the toughest weather conditions and darkest of mornings. Isn’t it just amazing that such people exist in the world who make it their prime duty and responsibility to handle your goods with care? I can’t imagine what postal delivery people go through: barking dogs, brutal, unpredictable weather and they’re on FOOT most of the time. WOW! In honor of today’s holiday, I’ve got deals at Sahalie for the postal men and women. Check out Sahalie coupons and save 10% on men’s and women’s outdoor clothing, footwear and more.
Salami Day - Ohhhhhh boy! I know we’ll be celebrating this holiday in my house tonight. Coming from an Italian family, every January/February we make homemade salami (sopressata), sausages and capicola. It’s an event you have to see to believe…really. You basically need to set aside two FULL days, the first to shop and prepare the meat and the second to make it and clean up. I know it doesn’t seem like very much fun; however, when you finally get to sink your teeth into this homemade delicacy, it’s well worth the blood, sweat and tears, trust me. To give you a bit of a history lesson, salami is basically cured sausage which can be stored at room temperature for up to one year…sometimes even longer. Think about it this way, when you have unexpected company or don’t have enough time to make dinner, salami, cheese and crackers do just the trick. Celebrate Salami Day by checking out Peapod and browse the selection of cured meats and cheeses. Then, use Peapod coupons and receive $10 in free groceries.
