October 31st - This Day in History - Happy Halloweeeeen! Save 5% on Halloween costumes at Costume SuperCenter today!

October 31st - It was on this day in history in 834 that All Hallows Eve was first celebrated. There are many explanations as to the origins of this holiday, but the one that makes most sense to me is the one derived from Celtic culture. It was a celebration of the end of summer. It was also believed that both good and evil spirits roamed around on this night, so candy was left in front of homes to pacify evil spirits and in turn ensure a good harvest the next year.  So obviously the most common costumes worn on Halloween are devil costumes, witch costumes, demon and ghost costumes. So what will you be tonight? If you weren’t prepared for this year, you still have next year. And right now, you’ll find the hottest deals at Costume SuperCenter! Head over there now for the huge sale on costumes and use free Costume SuperCenter coupons to save 5% on orders of $30 or more!

Halloween Day - AH!!! It’s finally here! The moment you’ve been waiting for all year long for. The day you can dress up and no one will think you’re a little off. The day when you can indulge in everything sweet (and sour), delicious and decadent. It’s HALLOWEEN! If you were smart, you listened to all my suggestions leading up to Halloween on costume ideas, places to buy your costume, ways to decorate for your Halloween or themed party. If you ask me, I set you up pretty good to have an enjoyable and unforgettable Halloween. For me, I got my costume planned out nice and early, bought my candy a few nights ago and now all I have to do is bring my nephew trick-or-treating which is really an excuse for me to show off my costume and get free candy because my nephew is too young to eat candy. SCORE! Tomorrow or tonight, when you’re all tired out and need a way to relax from all the festivities, discover deals at iWin where you can do some mindless playing in front of your screen and disappear for hours! Save 40% on discount arcade, trivia, puzzle and matching online games when you use iWin coupons.

Increase Your Psychic Powers Day - Hmm, I think I mentioned once or twice how I’m sort of telepathic with the people I’m closest to, and thanks to my 7th grade free-spirited teacher, I’m extremely in tune with my intuition. Increase Your Psychic Powers Day is a fun way to pass the time at a lame Halloween party you find yourself at (or a good one if you listened to my ideas). Try it out and see how psychic you are. Go up to a random person you don’t know and stare at them and tell them what you think they’re thinking. Or go up to your best friend and try reading their mind. Perhaps you could start charging people if you’re really good at it and you’ll make a mint profit! Do this around a campfire and give everyone a run for their money (literally). Since you know I’m sort of intuitive, maybe I can read your mind. Uhmmm (this is the noise I make when I’m reading minds). My cosmic star senses are telling me you’re looking for deals at Sierra Trading Post. Save 10% on discount Teva, Columbia and Patagonia apparel, shoes and gear on orders of $100 or more when you use Sierra Trading Post coupons.

Travel Smarts - Orbitz Coupons - 10% off Greenwich Village, New York Hotels - Inspiration for O’Neill’s Dramas, Dylan’s Tunes & Your Next Vacation

Greenwich Village served as home to generations of bohemians: the revolutionary writers of the twenties, the beat writers of the fifties and the folk singers of the sixties. No other neighborhood in New York so inspired the artistic spirit.

And even if most of the artists have now moved on, the Village is still as popular a neighborhood as ever for visitors seeking a slice of iconic Manhattan. Plus, thanks to Orbitz and its low-price guarantee, Greenwich Village hotels in New York fit every budget.

Take the price down to starving-artist level with your Orbitz coupons. Save an additional 10% on the cost of your stay and visit one of Manhattan’s most famous districts for less.

Greenwich Village offers the sort of experience that neighborhoods in midtown simply can’t deliver - classic landmarks that aren’t saturated with tourists. You won’t find the mad hustle and bustle of Times Square, but you will find some Big Apple favorites:

  • Bleecker Street - Home to the Village’s legendary night clubs
  • Washington Square Park - One of the city’s most popular parks
  • West 4th Street Courts - Symbol of NY streetball, often called “The Cage”
  • Arts Scene - Dozens of underground jazz clubs & off-Broadway theatres, including the home of Blue Man Group

Tell Me What’s Going On

New York’s Village Halloween Parade (October 31, 2008)

October 30th Holidays - Question - Is Your Refrigerator Running? If So, Don’t Catch It. Run for Your Life Instead & Save $5 at Overstock!

Haunted Refrigerator Day - Well, isn’t this an appropriate holiday to celebrate the day before Halloween? I tell ya, people will do anything to get a good scare. I’m not complaining. Once a year, I can appreciate a scare. Only once a year though! I’m a big scaredy cat. Growing up I used to think my house was haunted because the floors and my refrigerator would make squeaky and rumbling noises at all hours of the night. Well, that’s until we got a new refrigerator and the noises stopped. So, I’m pretty sure my refrigerator was suffering from old age! I don’t know what it is with haunted appliances that is so popular. Remember in Home Alone, Kevin was horrified of the washing machine? Since I used to believe any and everything I would watch when I was little, I believed that my laundry room was haunted as well and would try to avoid my basement as much as possible. Today on Haunted Refrigerator Day, perhaps you could see if you need an upgrade on your refrigerator and the best place to do that is at Overstock. Save $5 on discount LG refrigerators on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.

National Candy Corn Day - Candy corn is such a popular Halloween candy…then again, all candy is popular at Halloween! As you know, I watch the Food Network and I love seeing how things are made. The most interesting to me is candy. The way candy makers melt it in a huge pot, form it and then hardens is so cool! Every Halloween I tend to get a bit nostalgic and start reminiscing about things I used to do as a kid on Halloween. Eating candy of course was one of them; however, I always knew how to limit myself. Want to know why? Well, because I had to save room for chocolate, of course! I am a chocoholic. However, since it’s National Candy Corn Day and not National Chocolate Day, I suggest we stick to indulging in everything candy today. I’m sure you’re giving out candy corn tomorrow night to all the trick-or-treaters. Don’t forget to save some for yourself! Make sure you check out Drugstore.com after to get your teeth in pre-Halloween condition, you know, before you rotted them. Save $10 on discount tooth care, toothbrushes and personal care on orders of $50 or more when you use Drugstore.com coupons.

October 29th - This Day in History - Ready to get all dolled up? Start with that perfect, porcelain doll face like Winona Ryder with Beauty.com products. Save $10 and get a free tutorial!

October 29th - It was on this day in history that the first ball-point pen went on sale 50 years after it was patented. I consider myself a little bit of a stationery junky. Okay, if the first step is admitting that I may have a problem, then here it goes…I am completely addicted to stationery. If I could cover my whole car in fluorescent post-its, I totally would. So, here are my absolute favorite office and school supply coupons for Expressionery.com, Franklin Covey, Quill and VistaPrint:

Famous Birthday

Winona Ryder, 37 - What a great actress. But most importantly, what great skin! Her soft, smooth skin makes her look like a porcelain doll. I’m sure her high cheekbones, big almond-shaped eyes and pouting mouth may also contribute to her doll-like look. Sure, she was born that way, but you can get this look too with a few items from Beauty.com. Use Beauty.com coupons to save $10 on these items when you spend $60 or more:

  • Philosophy Concealer - this air-brush foundation leaves a smooth & even surface as it conceals, camouflages & protects your face
  • Nars Blush - apply this soft-peachy blush to your cheek bones - sart at the apple of your cheek & move away, towards your hair line
  • Stila Eyeliner - apply dark-black liner on upper lid & below the lash line & then lightly go over lower lash line with a q-tip to get a smoky effect
  • Urban Decay Lipstick - apply this creamy lipstick over your lips for a natural look that lasts all day & protects your lips too

There, now you’re organized with stationery and even more gorgeous!

Hermit Day - This is my day to celebrate! I am the biggest hermit you’ll ever meet, largely because of the zodiac sign my birthday falls into. Nonetheless, every day is Hermit Day so it’s an easy laidback day for me to do nothing different…finally! If you’re an outgoing person who loves attention, big crowds and noise, then today may be a challenge for you. However, maybe if you see how relaxing and tempting it is to be all by yourself for a day (no cell phone, no interruptions, just the serenity of your own surroundings), you’ll be sure to change your mind. Speaking from a hermit’s perspective, being a hermit requires you to be secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of anything distracting like entertainment and the night life scene. If this sounds out of the ordinary for you, then try it for at least one day. It would be beneficial for you to take some alone time and do some deep thinking about yourself! When you’re all finished, check out Beauty.com to pamper yourself some more. Save $10 on Elizabeth Arden skincare and cosmetics and Calvin Klein fragrances on orders of $60 or more when you use Beauty.com coupons.

Internet Day - We all use it and we’ve become so dependent on that it’s impossible to imagine our lives without this amazing tool. It’s no wonder this invention took so long to perfect and master! There’s not one business or company I can name that doesn’t use the Internet for its business affairs and marketing its products and services. Nowadays we can go online just about everywhere using just about anything including our cellular phones. Nonetheless, it’s pretty cool that this form of technology has made such huge impacts on our culture and affects our lives every day. Since the Internet is like the centre of everything we know, I thought I would list all the things we wouldn’t have without the Internet - ecommerce, email, instant messaging, social networking websites, online shopping and, um, my blog! That’s right, if we didn’t have Internet, there wouldn’t be a blog and how would you ever get by not knowing the holidays and deals of the day? So today on Internet Day, I say you check out Lenovo. Receive free standard shipping and handling on a discount Lenovo ThinkPad, IdeaPad and more computers and laptops when you use Lenovo coupons.
