Anniversary of Patent Issued First Adding Machine Day - PHEW, that was a LONG title! Yes, today is the anniversary of the “adding machine,” otherwise known as my lifesaver. I know today doesn’t really count as a real “holiday;” however, since this invention has such a huge effect on my life, I decided to turn it into a holiday to celebrate! Did I ever mention how much I hate math and counting? Hmm, guess not. Well, it was about 120 years ago today that the first adding machine was invented. It was called the comptometer and was invented by a U.S. citizen, Dorr Felt, in 1887. I’m not sure what job you have or if you could solve math problems with your eyes closed; nonetheless, a good calculator always comes in handy. Go pick yourself up a calculator today (pocket size so no one can see when you use it). Browse Office Max for amazing deals and specials on home and business essentials.
