Put on Your Own Shoes Day – So, you’re probably scratching your head thinking, “I do put my own shoes on!” Today’s not about reminding you to put on your own shoes because unless you’re Prince Charming and put on Cinderella’s slippers every day, then you have no excuse. The way I’m interpreting today’s holiday is doing things for yourself. If you want something done sometimes you got to do it yourself. Well, it rings true today. I’m not going to lie, living at home does give you an advantage. I don’t have to do half the things other people do who live by themselves. Although this is true, I still do many things for myself that I wouldn’t think of asking my parents to do for me. There comes a sad time in life where you have to start taking responsibility for yourself and well, um, put on your own shoes! See I knew my point would come together. Nonetheless, the New Year is fast approaching and this could be a great New Year’s resolution. Franklin Covey helps you become successful by making the right moves and decisions. Mitten Tree Day – Remember when you were growing up and made those fun winter arts and crafts projects in school? Well, I’m like 99% sure that’s what we’re celebrating today. I enjoy this holiday because I’m crazy about arts and crafts. If you ask me what my favorite subject was in school, I’d probably say Art. I’m not really that great at art, and the most I can draw is stick figures. Nonetheless, there’s something really fun about working with my hands and being creative. Maybe that’s part of the reason I still scrapbook. Enough about me! Today is all about Mitten Tree Day. Whether you have young kids at home, cousins, nieces, nephews or grandkids, this is a great project to do on a Saturday. Get them to draw or construct a huge holiday tree and make mittens out of construction paper. They can decorate and personalize them. Then when they’re done, stick ‘em on the tree and they can hang it in their play area. I’m so inspired by my own suggestion, I might do something arts and crafty today too! And the first place I’m going to check out is Shindigz. Save 10% on discount holiday art supplies, paper, decorations and more when you use Shindigz coupons.
