Card Playing Day – Besides doing puzzles and playing board games, playing cards is one of my favorite things to do on nothing days. You know those days? No matter how hard you try to find something to do, there’s nothing to do. Man, sometimes when I’m soo busy I wish I was having a nothing day; and other days where I’m soo bored, I wish I was busy! It’s a lose-lose situation. Back to the holiday, Card Playing Day is so much fun to me because it’s a day to order some take out, get the music going, invite a bunch of your friends over and play all your favorite card games. What’s your favorite? Crazy Eights, Go Fish, Rummy, Poker, or Blackjack? Well, my favorite is Crazy Eight Countdown, and if I could keep my poker face, I’d totally be better at Poker! Nonetheless, it’s just a game as they say. In my opinion, Card Playing Day couldn’t have come at a better time. We’re fresh off the holidays, and you’re probably too pooped to do anything else. So play cards! If you were separated this season from friends and family, check out iWin and you can play each other near or far. Save 40% on Solitaire, poker/casino and other card games when you use iWin coupons.

National Chocolate Day – OK, this must be a joke right? How on Earth am I supposed to consume any more sweets? What am I saying? I’m a chocoholic! I must oblige to today’s holiday, it is a national holiday you know? I’ve been pretty good with my chocolate intake this holiday season. I’ve been balancing it out with all the delicious food, so I don’t feel as bad as I should for participating 100% in today’s holiday. Nonetheless, I believe it’s still very important that we remember the origins of chocolate. In university, I wrote a paper all about chocolate. It was mainly about the history of it, where it was first cultivated, where it is grown today, etc. etc. In my paper, I argued how chocolate is a fetishized commodity and how we forget or don’t know the labor that goes into making it. That’s why I’m all for Fair Trade chocolate and coffee and believe it’s important to remember the processes that go into making our favorite things. Today on National Chocolate Day, check out Davids Cookies.
