December 29th – It was on this day in history in 1862 that the bowling ball was invented. I’m not the greatest bowler, but worse, I am the biggest klutz! I’ve dropped a 13 pound bowling ball on my toe once, and my dad’s toe, and my brother’s too…Anyway, the point is: I need some practice and better grip too! Believe it or not, virtual bowling has taught me better balance techniques, how to hold the ball and best of all how to control my wrist as I let go of the ball. Do you know what kind of virtual bowling I’m talking about? I’ve been practicing with Wii, and I’ve actually improved my real game. Improved…not mastered…and I definitely have NOT cured myself of the klutz syndrome. But for those of you who love gaming, I totally recommend Wii to you. Plus, with great add-ons like Wii Fit, you’ll get into shape too without feeling like you’re even working out. Head over to Target today where you’ll find Wii or Wii Fit for a very low price. Plus, use our exclusive Target coupons to save $5 when you spend $50 or more!

1965 – Supremes Release I Am Empty Without You – Were you, or are you still a fan of the music the Supremes dished out during their time? You’ll be the talk of the neighborhood when you’ve got the coolest, one-of-a-kind serving ware from Artful Home. December 29th Holidays – Tick Tock, Tick Tock. You Only Got 2 Days to Make Your Resolution. Get Some Help at Franklin Covey & Save $10 on Your Order!

Pepper Pot Day – Unlike other holidays, I didn’t know what today’s holiday was all about. Once I did my research, I found out pepper pot is actually a type of hearty and spicy soup. It was served in the American Revolutionary War to the Continental Army in 1777. As the story goes, the 1777 to 1778 winter was the harshest anyone had ever seen. George Washington ordered the soldiers to combine their scraps of food which were beef, tripe, pepper and an assortment of vegetables and create a type of stew that would keep ‘em warm and full. This was no ordinary soup; “the pepper pot soup won the war.” I’d like to bring up how inventive it is to make dishes out of whatever is lying around just like the soldiers. I’m sure after a long day at work, the last thing you want to do is go grocery shopping to pick up fresh new ingredients so your family’s palettes will be satisfied. The best thing to do is look in your refrigerator or pantry and do what my mom does – wing it! You may hate shopping for groceries; however, I know you don’t hate shopping for kitchen items so check out Cooking.com. Save 10% on Cuisinart kitchen appliances, Oggi kitchen products and Breadman bread machines, plus browse 10,000 recipes when you use Cooking.com coupons.

Tick Tock Day – Why do I feel like singing Madonna’s song “4 Minutes” when I read the title of today’s holiday? Tick Tock Day is sort of hinting at time or a countdown of some sort. Since today is December 29th, there’s only one thing I can think of – New Year’s Eve. Wow 2009 is fast approaching. Tick-tock, tick-tock. How was your 2008? Was it a year of ups, downs, or one big rollercoaster ride? Well, there’s not much you can do about it now because it’s T-minus 2 days ’til the big countdown! New Year’s Eve is a time of change, celebration and new beginnings. It is also an important time to reflect on years past and think about what you want to do differently in the new year. Many people make New Year’s resolutions and have a hard time sticking to them. I’m not sure why that is, perhaps because people’s resolutions are a little extreme. Whatever your resolution is this year, make it attainable and not too far-fetched. Any change is good change! On Tick Tock Day, I’d like to remind you to make your resolution for the New Year and receive some help from Franklin Covey. Save $10 on Franklin Covey 2009 planners, how-to guides, books and other gear on orders of $55 or more when you use Franklin Covey coupons.
