Festival of Sleep Day – Man, I like the sound of this! These holiday festivities and non-stop partying (yeah right) have really made me tired. Now that it’s a Saturday, I can take the time to sleep in and not worry about waking up to fulfill any of my obligations. That sounds greattt! This holiday couldn’t have come at a better time. Depending on whether you had some time off, Monday is back to work and school for the kids. Awww! I remember being so upset when I had to go back to school after the holidays. If I knew about this holiday when I was younger, I would’ve been so relaxed and energized to get back in the mode. If you didn’t have any time off, then take today to unwind and take a one day vacation. I haven’t had one weekend to myself in weeeeks! Since today is Festival of Sleep Day, there’s nothing else to do except SLEEP, so I can’t argue or complain. If you don’t want to literally get some extra shut eye, then you should pop in some movies and relax in bed. You can rest your body and watch some of your favorite oldies. I do have a rule when it comes to relaxing and that is you have to have comfortable bed sheets, blankets and pillows. Check out Smart Bargains for luxurious bedding. Fruitcake Toss Day – Oh come on! Aren’t we finished talking about the holidays yet? We’re in the start of a New Year. We had soooo much time to talk about holiday related things. Oh well, this holiday isn’t half as bad as I’m making it seem. The holiday is encouraging us to throw out the fruitcake! So at least we’re beginning the purging process. I can relate to this pesky problem of collecting holiday foods until they go bad. Being Italian, in my family, we have tons of leftovers of something called pannetone. It’s a cakey spongy bread that you can buy in the store and is considered the Italian “Christmas cake.” You would think my family would have enough of it. Nooo! On New Year’s Eve, what does my mom do? Pulls out a pannetone and starts serving it. What?!?!!? I bet you in a few weeks, we’ll still have pannetone in our pantry. I protest against this! I say you regift or throw away the fruitcake, pannetone or whatever else kind of stale food you have lying around your kitchen or hiding in your pantry. If your resolution is to drop a few pounds, then it’s time to lay off the sweets! Now that you got the willpower to throw away all the devilish treats and temptations, check out NutriSystem.
