Play God Day - I know everyone has their own religious viewpoints and this holiday is in no way trying to suggest anything other than what it says. What this holiday makes me think of is doing good in the world. We haven’t had one of these holidays in a while! So perhaps we could just think of playing God in the sense of being a good person by setting examples and caring for the Earth and its inhabitants. Nowadays, there is such an emphasis on doing good for the environment and preserving resources and natural life. I can’t believe the amount of support this topic is receiving especially from the younger generation. In their own ways, with whatever means they have, they are ambassadors for the environment. That’s not to say businesses and other public figures aren’t trying their best to make positive changes and contributions as well. If you share the belief that God does good and want to “play God” every day, not just today, then make it your mission this year to contribute to an area that is of importance to you or one that still needs to be discovered. National Apricot Day - Apricots are my favorite fruit, next to pears of course. The thing I love most about apricots is their fuzzy exterior and their taste. Other than the fact that apricots are delicious bites of paradise, they’re also high in nutrients and are believed to be a source of fighting diseases. The secret is in the power of beta carotene which is a source of Vitamin A in the body and helps keep bones, hair, eyes, glands and more healthy and functioning. How good does that sound? Doesn’t it make you want to go to the grocery store and buy a bunch of apricots to enjoy? Well, why don’t you? If you’re not big on eating fruits on their own, make ‘em into a dessert. How does apricot cobbler sound? Or chocolate dipped apricots? Or an apricot parfait? MmMm! What delicious desserts! Apricots are in season usually through May to August; however, you can still find them in your grocery store. If you’re having guests this weekend or sometime this month, make a summery inspired dessert and it’ll remind them of hotter days. If you want to make a bigger impression with guests, then spend some time on the presentation with products from Oneida.
