No Comments »Thesaurus Day – If it weren’t for the thesaurus, who knows where I would be right now. I discovered the thesaurus in elementary school and really started using it in high school to make my papers sound more appealing. In university, my thesaurus and I were inseparable. Who needed the dictionary to learn new words when you could use the thesaurus and learn 20 variations of the same word? Fascinating, huh? Well, first I’ll tell you a bit about the thesaurus. The first one was compiled in 1805 by Peter Roget. It has two functions – 1) to display every important term in the English language; 2) to provide a list of related terms. The thesaurus is a great way to spruce up your writing. For example, if your vocabulary is not where it should be, then pick up a thesaurus when you’re bored, need to attend an interview, or write an important paper, and look for new words and ways to express what you’re trying to say. People will take you seriously if you used more intellectual words for your age and stage in life. Now I’m sure you’re tired of hearing me say “Save ________” the same way twice a day, every day. So seeing as how it’s Thesaurus Day, I’ll jazz up the way I tell you to save at Brookstone. Seize Brookstone coupons to redeem $15 off on digital photo albums, sleeper sofas and exercise machines on orders of $150 or more!
Winnie the Pooh Day – Brace yourselves. I am the biggest Winnie the Pooh fan ever. He’s like the cutest and cuddliest character. And he’s just soo nice! How many bears do you know that were as nice and pretty as Winnie? Um, none! That’s what I thought. I was soo obsessed with Winnie the Pooh. Everything from my comforter to my knapsack, my pajamas and my birthday parties HAD to have a Winnie the Pooh theme. I drove my mom crazy for Winnie. When I hit high school, me and Winnie had to part ways. It was sad, I got over it though. Eventually…OK, I secretly still had my Winnie the Pooh stash in my basement for when I got lonely. Ho hum! Regardless, Winnie the Pooh Day is a day to celebrate the inventor and writer of the character of Winnie the Pooh, wait a minute…HE’S NOT REAL? Kidding! Today is A.A. Milne’s birthday. If you’re wondering how to celebrate, perhaps you could catch Winnie on television, pop in a Winnie movie, or dig up some Winnie treasures you still have lying around your basement and pass them onto the toddler in your life. Today I say you check out Target for everything Pooh related. Save $5 on Winnie the Pooh comforters, pillows and plush animals on orders of $50 or more when you use Target coupons.
