January 19th - Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Everyone celebrates this day differently. When I was in school, we were to choose a phrase from any of his speeches and discuss what it meant to us and how we could relate to it. We would also light a candle in his honor and discuss many of his ideals on nonviolence. Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by doing honorable acts like spending extra time with your family or volunteering in your community.

1955 - Scrabble Premiered in the Board Game Market - Not only is this game fun to play, but your vocabulary becomes more enriched too! Imagine how a child may learn to use words to put polite sentences together: “Mother, a biscuit with my goblet of milk would be extraordinarily satisfying at this precise moment.” I’m sure my mom would’ve preferred this instead of: “Ma, I wanna dunk a cookie in my milk now, please!” Get what I’m saying? Infuse your vocabulary and have some fun as you do it by playing fun word games like Scrabble. You can find a whole slew of enlightening word games at iWin. Discover the world of word games at your fingertips and save 40% on your download with exclusive iWin coupons!

National Popcorn Day – MmM. Popcorn! So yummy and might I add the best snack ever. Too bad National Popcorn Day falls on a Monday and not a Friday because you could pop in a movie, make some microwave popcorn and sit back and enjoy. Well, you could still do it tonight - it just won’t be the same because you have that thing called ‘work’ tomorrow! Oh well. If you’re not up to watching a movie tonight, I’m sure many of your favorite shows are back with new episodes so cuddle up, snack on some popcorn and laugh away!

I’m a huge fan of popcorn in general; however, growing up and still to this day, my family doesn’t believe in owning a microwave. Yeah, I’m sort of deprived. It’s just that my parents like to do things the old fashioned way. Well, the old fashioned way takes up tons of energy if you quickly want to warm up something. So we invested in a toaster oven. When that broke, my parents got fed up and caved. We finally got a microwave! Until it broke. During that time though, I made popcorn night after night. I’m thinking that’s what contributed to the demise of the microwave. Instead of telling you to save on popcorn, what good is popcorn if you don’t have anything to make it with? So check out Cooking.com. Save 10% on microwave popcorn cookware by Cuisinart and NordicWare when you use Cooking.com coupons.

Hunt for Happiness Week (18-24) – Yes, if you remember, a month or two ago it was Pursuit of Happiness Week. “Hunt” is just another word for “pursue,” so the inventors of the holiday must’ve heard about Thesaurus Day being just the other day! Hmmm. Well, back to this week’s theme, Hunt for Happiness, it’s a good time to check in with yourself and see how your happiness measures up since the last time we spoke about this topic. Have you done anything different to make yourself happier? Have you made yourself your number one priority? Well, if not, it’s a New Year, and if you put it off before, there’s no better time like today or this week to focus on yourself and your “hunt for happiness.”

Think about it – what would make you really happy this year? A change of scenery? A new job? A hobby you’re passionate about? Whatever it is, it’s important that you do something for you. I’ll tell you what would make me really happy – a vacation. Somewhere nice and hot is where I’d like to be right now. Winter is taking a toll on me, and I’ve had enough! I’d also like to get back into baking. I’ve been putting it off for a while and I was thinking of taking some baking classes to enhance my skills. See I’m doing things that make me happy, so you should too! And that vacation isn’t sounding too shabby right now! Check out Viator for adventure tours and more. Save 7% on New York City tours, England tours and Barbados trips when you use Viator coupons.
