I recently went to a friend’s bridal shower and noticed some of the biggest ooohs and ahhhhs were towards a few very creative homemade gifts! So, I’ve gathered a few DIY bridal shower gift ideas that will not only help you save money, but make a lasting impression.
Use Your Skills
Two of the most touching gifts at this particular shower were an afghan crocheted by her grandmother and a framed painting done by a family friend. The future bride was speechless and so pleased with both. Giving a gift by using your gifts is a touching gesture. Plus, it’s a great way to ensure someone else won’t be giving the same thing.
Here are a few make it yourself bridal shower gift ideas for the truly artistic:
- Painting – paint a portrait of the happy couple
- Needlework – crochet an afghan or rug-hook a pillow that would match their home
- Scrapbooking – make a photo album tracing their path to the big day
- Musical – make a love song CD or write an original just for them
Recipes
One of the coolest make it yourself bridal shower gift ideas is the recipe card collection. Find your favorite dishes and paste them into a decorated album. Not only is it a gift they can use every day, but it’s something they can add to and pass down through generations.
Bake Something
Everyone loves cookies. Make your own bridal shower gift basket filled with homemade cookies or small cakes and give them something sweet to indulge in. Use wedding-inspired cut-outs like brides, grooms, flowers or wedding bells for a festive touch. Not only will it look pretty, but it’ll taste great too!
Giving a lovely wedding shower gift isn’t about how much you spend – it’s the thought that counts. And all it takes is a bit of time and a few creative homemade bridal shower gift ideas.

Yes! The recipe card collection is awesome. A bunch of us did that for my friend’s bridal shower, and I think she’s already made most of the recipes.
People don’t share our culinary secrets often, so you know it’ll be appreciated, haha.

This is a great post! While I’m not the most talented person to make things I think baking is a perfect idea… it also helps off set the costs of the food for the shower! Love the ideas and the personal touch-
thanks for this!
