Plan Out Your Meals Before You Head Out Food Shopping – Guest Post by FFB at Free From Broke

Food isn’t cheap is it? I mean, you can get cheaper food but it will still cost you. So what do you do about it?

You need to organize!

Before you even think about heading to the supermarket you need to think about what you want to eat for the week. List out the days and ask yourself what you’d like to prepare for each meal. Once you have that you can work on listing out the ingredients that you will need.

Why go through all of this,” you ask? It will save you money!

Let me tell you what happens when you don’t plan your meals and make your shopping. You get to the supermarket and start going down the aisles. You find some things you need around the house like milk and eggs. Some things you would like to eat make their way to your shopping cart as well. You’ll plan out some meals on the fly as you see stuff in the market.

Not too bad, right?

But you’ll be impulsive too. You’ll grab stuff you want then and there but you might not prepare it when you get home. You might forget some ingredients so you’ll have to run out again (more opportunity to spend). You might even buy duplicates of items you already have at home.

So if you want to be frugal with your food shopping (and who doesn’t?) then before you to the supermarket plan out your meals. Write down all of the ingredients you need (and check to see what you already have). Then with coupons and discount cards in hand you can go food shopping.

Yeah, food isn’t cheap. So do what you can to keep yourself from spending more!
