Frugal and Loving It!! – Guest Post by Brandy of Savin Some

Today’s guest post comes from Brandy of Savin Some, a really great blog for frugal tips and deals. It’s easy to see how passionate Brandy is about saving and living a smart, frugal lifestyle. Enjoy, guys! -Shayna

Living a frugal lifestyle does not mean to do without, it simply means to live well on less. There are several ways that you can make your money stretch, sometimes it just takes a little creativity.

The first, and most important, step to saving money is to figure out how much you have. Take a few minutes to write out a budget. By making a budget you know how much income you have, as well as expenditures. Once you have everything down, it is easier to see where you can trim a few dollars here and there.

The second step is to learn to shop frugally. This is my favorite part. Coupons and sales are your friends, use them well. Go through your weekly sales ads and find the items that you need for the week. Also look for items that are on a really good sale, if it is something you use regularly you should buy a couple of extra. When you find the sales, next go through your coupons and find the coupons that match the sale items. This is how you get the best bang for your buck. Sometimes by combining sales and coupons you can get items for pennies, or even free.

Learn to take advantage of stores like CVS and Walgreen’s. You can find free items at these stores weekly, by using their Extra Care and rebate programs.

Learn to be green; it can actually save you money. By cutting out paper towels and paper napkins you not only save the environment, but also a little cash. To replace these, purchase a few cloth napkins. You can also cut up old towels and use the smaller rags in place of paper towels. The savings may seem small, but it adds up throughout the year. You can also switch from paper coffee filters to a reusable one. The savings on this is small as well, but adds up over time.

Cook from scratch, and do not buy convenience foods. This will save you tons of money, and is much healthier for your family.

These are just a few of my favorite money saving tips. There are countless ways to save money, and you are only limited by your imagination. You can find many more money saving tips on my blog, http://savinsome.blogspot.com.
