There are some memories that we want to cherish for the rest of our lives. Your daughter’s first smile is most certainly one of those. Then there were the things we’ve done that we would rather forget. (Let’s just say that dying my hair years ago a stop-sign red was a very, very bad idea.)
Through the good times and the bad times, your family and friends have been there for you. Cherish the people close to you who truly care because as we have all learned after the passing of a loved one, they won’t be there forever.
Here’s where Things Remembered takes the lead and waltzes in with their engraved gifts and photo frames. Give them as gifts to your mother, your boss, or the guy at the grocery store who always double-bags your stuff without you having to ask.
But don’t forget to use the free Things Remembered coupons. Valid until October 15, redeem them for:
- 10% off Orders Over $60
- 15% off Orders Over $80
- 20% off Orders Over $100

Pick up any of the following special mementos:

October 6th - It was on this day in history in 1983 that Islander’s Mike Bossy scored his 25th career hat trick. A hat trick is when a player scores three goals in a game. Some people argue that it must be three goals in a row. I think that’s asking a little much. Anyway, there is usually a delay in the game when a hat trick occurs because ANY fan wearing a hat in the arena throws it on the ice…I think it’s magical…you wouldn’t understand unless you were a hardcore hockey fan. But if you are, then I’ve got some coupons that’ll have you screamin’ “Hooooooooly Mackinoff!” Head over to Shop.NHL.com for the greatest fan gear. Discover jerseys, photos, or posters of your favorite players in action and more. Use Shop.NHL.com coupons for 15% off your entire order!
1991 - Elizabeth Taylor Weds for the 8th Time - Well, there isn’t any kind of hat trick for this record I’m afraid. I can’t help but wonder what she does with all the wedding dresses. I mean, wedding dresses have a lot of material; they can take up a whole closet on their own. And the rings. Does she have a jewelry box for regular jewelry and a separate one for previous engagement rings and wedding bands? This is the stuff I think about all day? If you’re a newly wed, or will be soon, don’t let this HUGE number scare you…unless you’re marrying Elizabeth Taylor! Otherwise, take that next step with the one you love and feel confident about it. If you’re looking for gorgeous wedding bands for less, then head over to Diamond.com for a wide array of choices you’ll both love. And our wedding gift to you is free Diamond.com coupons that get you a whopping 20% off your purchase!

Elisabeth Shue, 45 - Although her first starring role was in the movie Adventures in Babysitting, I remember her VERY first role as Ralph’s girlfriend on the Karate Kid. She was in some of the greatest films of the 80s and 90s including Back to the Future parts II & III, The Makeover, Soapdish, Leaving Las Vegas, The Trigger Effect, The Saint and many more. Make it an Elisabeth Shue movie night by heading over to Sony Style to stock up on her films. Use exclusive Sony Style coupons for discounts on DVDs today.

World Teachers Day - Imagine being in a school setting the rest of your life? Well, I don’t think it’s half as bad when the tables are turned and you’re the one who’s in control! Teaching is one of those classic professions, and it seems there are more and more people wanting to become teachers every year. As soon as I entered post secondary school, everyone was talking about what they wanted to do - teach. This caught me by surprise. How come everyone I knew (friends and relatives) wanted to teach? This got me thinking and wouldn’t you know it, I looked into teaching as a career and volunteered my time and took the necessary courses. Then I realized just HOW many people wanted to teach and I got discouraged. I’m not surprised by how many people want to take on this huge responsibility. Teachers take on the duty of teaching the future, and if you ask me, that’s a pretty BIG job. So today, if you know a teacher or are one yourself, make sure you do something special. Check out Current Catalog for the right gifts for the caring teacher. Save 10% on personalized teacher mugs, notepads, bags, bracelets and magnets on orders of $50 or more when you use Current Catalog coupons.
National Do Something Nice Day - Here we go again…another day to do something nice for someone else. Are the inventors of these silly holidays trying to tell us something? Just a TAD! I enjoy helping people; however, at times, I hate accepting help from others. People tend to do this, it’s not just me! So it might be a little harder today to help some people out who have a hard time asking for it or taking it. If this is the situation you find yourself in today, then do what I do: do it sneakily. If you want to help your spouse or parent, then try to lighten their load before they can get to it. Or check the fridge and run to the grocery store to pick up whatever is needed. That way, the person you’re trying to help won’t have time to reject your help! See it doesn’t matter how many times we celebrate this holiday theme, there’s always time to do something nice for someone else. And here’s my way of doing something nice for you - check out Diamond.com…yes you heard me! Do something REALLY nice for someone close to your heart and save 20% on diamond rings, pendants, necklaces and more when you use Diamond.com coupons!

International Frugal Fun Day - Everyone, get your party hats on and get ready to undo a couple of notches off your belt! Today is the day we celebrate the only thing we know how to do - SAVE! Finally, a day to celebrate how great it is to save a little bit of money where you can! From talking to friends and coworkers, we’ve come to the conclusion that it is absolutely ludicrous to drop large amounts of cash on a single item. I have never done this and don’t intend to, except only on big things, like a computer or car. I have never and would never spend a ridiculous amount of money on ONE pair of jeans. On a few pairs of jeans, sure why not? So today, I’m going to help you save on a bunch of essential things: undergarments, entertainment and food (not in any order of importance). Check out these amazing deals at Hanes, iWin and Davids Cookies:
- Hanes Coupons - 15% off discount intimate sleepwear, underwear & loungewear for the whole family
- iWin Coupons - 40% off online arcade, trivia, puzzle & board computer games for adults, teens & kids
- Davids Cookies Coupons - 15% off gourmet cookie gifts & treats on orders of $29 or more plus receive free shipping
WOW…Can you say BARGAINS?!
National Frappe Day - MmMm frappes. I was first introduced to frappes when I started going to an upscale coffee pub. Of course, being a coffee addict, I tend to gravitate towards the coffee frappes. Frappes are probably the most ordered of drinks on the menu and I bet no one knows what frappes really consist of. Frappes are a fancy word for an ice cream milkshake, although cream is used as a substitution to milk. YUM! Sounds better now doesn’t it? I hate to break it to you, if you’ve been enjoying frappes every day for the past few months, it might not be such a great thing after all. Sure they taste delicious and really hit the spot; however, frappes should only be enjoyed as special dessert drinks that you only have once or twice a month maximum. I know, it’s hard for me to understand too. Because it’s National Frappe Day, I say we enjoy the last delectable frappe we’re going to have for a LONGGGGG time. And, I think you should make your own (with milk instead) just so you can drink it without feeling guilty. Take my advice and head over to CoffeeForLess to a splash of caffeine in it. Save 6% on a gourmet and flavored coffees when you use CoffeeForLess coupons.

Guardian Angel Day - I think we should start with the fact that I have a strong belief we all have a guardian angel, whether they’re living or some angelic figure who stands on our shoulder and guides us through life. Sounds cheesy, I know. However, I’ve heard stories before of mysterious people showing up in tough times and vanishing. No matter what your religion or belief system, you wouldn’t reject having a guardian angel in your life. I know I do tons of reminiscing (today is no different); when I was in elementary school, I had a teacher who was obsessed with angels. We would talk about angels all the time to the point where it got me hooked on them as well. Guardian angels don’t have to be some heavenly figure. It could be anyone, and I believe they appear in forms of other people. I have a pretty good idea who my guardian angels are and I hope you do too! Whether you consider your living guardian angel a grandparent, mom, dad, aunt, uncle or friend, or someone who you see every day, then give the gift that no one grows old of - flowers from Fleurop. Head over there now to save 5% on bouquets of flowers, arrangements and baskets including international flower delivery and same day service when you apply Fleurop coupons.
National Custodial Worker Day - When you were growing up, you didn’t have to worry about cleaning up after yourself because you know your mom or dad would do it for you. Then you started school, and wouldn’t you know it, there are custodial workers to clean up after you (and the school). It sounds to me like we’ve had it made! The custodial workers at my school were fun, easy going, and you could talk to them and joke around with them about anything. In my opinion, in order to be a likable custodial worker, you have to have a really good personality. If you don’t, then you’ll be considered the cookie-cutter version of The Simpsons’ custodial worker, Groundskeeper Willie. He was especially funny since he was mean and had no remorse for scaring young children. I loved this character! Today on National Custodial Worker Day, we should all go up to the custodial worker we know and thank them for everything they do. If there’s any way you can make a custodial worker’s job a little easier today and from now on, go ahead and do it! I’ve got the perfect way…shop at Fuller Brush Company or tell them how they can save 15% on discount household and commercial cleaning agents and products. Help them out in a way you know how by telling them about Fuller Brush Company coupons!

Fire Pup Day - Come on…don’t deny it, I know you remember the fire pup that used to come visit you at your kindergarten class! I do and do I ever miss him! He would always come unexpectedly and teach us about fire protocol and procedures. Thinking back, I love how dogs are usually associated with a fire hydrant (for obvious reasons) and then end up being the mascot for the fire department! I also appreciate the fact that after all these years, the lessons this dog taught me and my kindergarten class really stuck with me. Bringing in a mascot or animal like the fire pup is a great way to get kids’ attention who may otherwise wonder off or doze off during an important presentation. You know by now how much I love pooches, and today is no exception. Dogs are just such smart animals how can you not love ‘em?! Today, I salute the fire pooches that work so hard to teach us and protect us from house and forest fires. This is one job that surely doesn’t receive the proper attention it deserves. So today, if you have a pet or know the fire dog, then head over to Petco for something extra special for a special dog! Apply Petco coupons and save 15% on discount dog treats, chew toys, beds and supplies on orders of $60 or more.
Balloons Around the World Day - This yearly event taking place always on October 1st brings together artists (not just any artists…balloon artists) around the world to design balloons and balloon animals. Essentially, this event is used to showcase the balloon industry. A field that many people don’t know much about; however, everyone loves the core of its business - to make balloons! These artists can create whatever they like and for whatever reason whether it be for a charity or for any passerby. In my opinion, I can’t think of a better way to bring joy to someone’s day than with a bunch of balloons. What do you see at every party you go to? BALLOONS! And what do you do with them? Pop them, pose with them, or sneak them home with you when the host isn’t watching? Hmm, I’m more likely to do the last one! Nonetheless, Balloons Around the World Day is just an all around FUN day to look at some great balloon creations. Are you wondering how you will celebrate today’s holiday? Celebrate in your own way by shopping at Shindigz. Receive free shipping on discount party theme balloons and decorations on orders of $50 or more when you use Shindigz coupons.

September 29th - I know, I don’t need to remind you what day it is. Mondays are tough, I’ll give you that. But they can be great when you start them off with a hot cup of java…flavored java…like pumpkin spice, cinnamon, French vanilla…oh! and Irish cream. Sorry, I got a little carried away there. But, if you stock up on some of these delicious flavors, I guarantee you that your Mondays will NEVER be the same! Head over to CoffeeForLess for an array of coffee flavors in coffee bean or pod form. And redeem exclusive CoffeeForLess coupons for 6% off everything!
1982 - First Broadcast of Cheers on NBC-TV - This show was great! Especially when Woody would be behind the counter. Poor guy didn’t always catch on when people were pulling his leg; jokes would go right over his head. But my favorite part of this show was the theme song…”You wanna go where everybody knows your name…” It’s true though, when someone uses your name when they’re talking to you, it feels more personal. So, the next time you’re buying someone a gift, personalize it with their name or a phrase that identifies with them. PersonalCreations.com has dozens and dozens of ideas for you to choose from. Use our free PersonalCreation.com coupons for 20% off personalized golf gifts, graduation gifts and much more!

Ask a Stupid Question Day - It’s so hard not to laugh at today’s holiday because I’m the queen of stupid pointless questions! Not that I do it on purpose, I just ask wayyy too many questions for my own good that it sometimes gets annoying. Teachers used to encourage kids in my class to ask questions since someone else might be thinking the same thing; however, no one ever did. Now that I’m not a student, I’ve become such a perfectionist (and I’m sure many of you are too) that making mistakes is out of the question for me. Now, the funny thing about today’s holiday is where it’s situated on the calendar…the end of September. And what happens in this month? That’s right, the kids went back to school! So, this day is usually celebrated on the last day of school in September as a sort of tongue in cheek to the whole “going back to school” concept. Are you wondering how we should celebrate today’s holiday? Well, maybe I can answer all your questions before you think them. Like, “Stars, where can I find deals on name brand designer apparel?” At Smart Bargains, that’s where! Save 10% on discount D&G, Versace and Louis Vuitton shoes, bags and accessories when you use Smart Bargains coupons.
Hug a Vegetarian Day - What a great day and way to thank all those vegetarians who have the willpower to do what most meat lovers would die before doing - giving up meat for life. I tried to become a vegetarian once. Here’s how it happened: I once ate at my favorite fast food place and got food poisoning. I then began reading a really popular health book that explained the process of slaughtering animals (I know, there’s no gentle way to say it). This turned me off to meat products completely. Unfortunately, it didn’t last too long; however, I did decide to only eat white meat like chicken from then on. I commend all those vegetarians who choose this lifestyle and think more about the animals than their cravings. So today we should honor the holiday and give a big ol’ hug to the vegetarian we know and say THANKS! Now here’s where you can really be put to the test, head over to Restaurant.com, find a restaurant of your choice and see if you can stay away from ordering any meat. First save up to 60% on $25 gift certificates at a restaurant near you when you use Restaurant.com coupons.

Love Note Day - I’m such a wuss for sappy mushy love notes. They’re so thoughtful and unexpected that make you feel so important and significant to someone. I’m not just talking about love notes from your sweetheart. I’m talking about love notes from anyone - your mom, dad, best friend or sibling. When me and my best friend first started high school, we really hated it to the point where we’d come home crying after school. Our moms would write us messages on our lunch bags putting smiles on our faces. It made the day that much more bearable. I have been fortunate that the guys who approached me (which weren’t many) would write me love letters or poems…now, things are a little different. There are two things called emails and text messages that I absolutely hate! They’re soo informal. Like come on people, you can’t tell someone you love them for the first time through a text message. You surely didn’t forget how to use your hands or fingers so take my advice and jot down a little love note and slip it in your partner’s bag or jacket. Once they find it and read it, the biggest grin will appear from their face! Here’s a little help from me: Expressionery.com. Save 20% on discount love note cards, labels and personalized stationery when you use Expressionery.com coupons.
Johnny Appleseed Day - For those of you who don’t know Johnny Appleseed, he originally went by the name John Chapman and he made his way by planting apple seeds along his travels west. He also made a decent living by selling trees to settlers he would meet. We celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day today because it was the day he was born. I feel like he was meant to sell and harvest apples because of the time of year he was born. We’re now officially in fall, and it’s also conveniently apple season, so when you put two and two together, it kind of makes sense that Johnny Appleseed sold apples for a living. He’s one of those people whose professions and birthdays are linked. You know what I mean? Like matchmakers who celebrate birthdays on or near Valentine’s Day! Get it? Well, I say today we celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day by eating an apple or two! Or you could check out Park Seed. They say the best time to plant apple seeds is in the late fall to winter months. There’s no time like the present to get everything you need to plant apple seeds so you could enjoy McIntosh and Golden Delicious varieties next spring! Apply Park Seed coupons and save 10% on apple seeds and other fruit seeds!

National Punctuation Day - Today, we are celebrating National Punctuation Day. The founder of today’s holiday is Jeff Rubin, and he stresses the importance of using proper punctuation. He has a point. Nowadays, people are sooo busy that they speak in incomplete sentences and leave their sentences hanging. And don’t get me started on text messaging, emailing and instant messaging. Aren’t these tools supposed to enhance our communication and bring people closer together? It seems to me that these devices are just drawing us further and further apart. Pay attention to some of your messages that you send back and forth today. You’ll notice that they are just one long run on sentence. If you’re in the business world, bad punctuation or grammar can really hurt your career, and there’s no doubt there will be some major misunderstandings. Today, if you want to get your message across, start adding those periods, commas, exclamation points or question marks at the end of every sentence. If you want to really shock someone today, head over to PersonalCreations.com and personalize your message. Save 20% on discount personalized bracelets, pencils, note pads, candles and towels when you take advantage of PersonalCreations.com coupons.
National Women’s Health and Fitness Day - I know what you women must be thinking, “Who has time to work out and watch what you eat?” Well, nowadays, no matter how busy your lifestyle may be or how long your days are, your health should be your first priority because without your health, how are you supposed to tackle your other obligations? Girls, stop being stubborn and start taking control of your health. Perhaps start today on National Women’s Health and Fitness Day. It is a day which promotes health and well being in women of all ages. This event takes places across the U.S. in hospitals and community centers. If you know about a particular event going on in your community, make an effort to learn about their health programs for women and pick up some information on diet and eating right. Nowadays, everyone wants to look like the hottest new celebrity without doing the work. The only way you’ll see and feel results both internally and externally is to actually do the work by exercising, eating right and taking your vitamins.
