August 29th - It was on this day in history in 1964 that Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins was released. I give it credit for my very active imagination today. Scenes like the one when Mary Poppins and the children jumped into a painting that they liked are amazing ways to get kids to imagine. It lets kids know that their minds are limitless and anything is possible. However, my very favorite scene is when Mary Poppins arrives in her room and begins unpacking. She has a carry-on type bag with her and starts pulling out clothes…knick knacks and…FURNITURE! The kids just watched her in amazement. Then she pulls out this loooooong standing lamp. Genius! Since this is my favorite part of the movie, I’m thinking a coupon for large bags and purses would fit. For large and stylish bags that you can literally carry your house in, head over to Avenue. Discover designer handbags and save 15% with exclusive Avenue coupons.

1968 - First U.S. Open Tennis Match - I used to think tennis was an easy sport, until I played it. I was so sore the next day…muscles that I didn’t even know existed ached with a vengeance. It’s a tough game that demands skill and endurance. I learned my lesson in assuming it was easy, that’s for sure. However, even though most of my body cried out in pain, my feet felt fine! I realized right away that it was because I was wearing New Balance tennis shoes. It helps when you’re wearing performance-oriented gear. And there’s a store that offers THE BEST tennis shoes, apparel, rackets and equipment in the universe: Dicks Sporting Goods. Head over there now and use free Dicks Sporting Goods coupons for a 15% discount on everything!

1884 - 1st Known Photograph of Tornado Is Made - I’m always fascinated by the fury of nature. I’ve never been face to face with anything like a tornado before though. Hey, I live in Canada, the only thing nature unleashes on me is the bitter cold for about 4 months outta the year.  Snapshots or paintings of nature in action can bring excitement, calm or intrigue into a room or office. Let’s take a painting of huge foamy waves crashing against a jagged, rocky cliff for example…to me, that kind of image makes me feel powerful and creative. It would be the perfect piece for a boardroom where meetings are held. But it could make you feel a totally different thing. So, bring some emotion evoked by nature into your home or office with nature paintings from Art Select. Discover breathtaking nature posters, prints & paintings for 15% off when you redeem exclusive Art Select coupons.

1843 - Charles Thurber Patents Typewriter - What a genius! Now men courting women wouldn’t suffer from hand cramps from writing so many love letters and poems that profess their love. What? So I’ve read a little too many romance novels in my time. I can still dream, can’t I?  I’m telling you, I know you may feel cheesy doing it, but write a short letter to the woman you love and she’ll be swept right off her feet, I promise. And I don’t mean text messaging, people! Write her a little message on stationery paper from Expressionery.com and watch her eyes sparkle as they skip from one word to the next. Macaulay Culkin, 27 - He starred in the fun family movie Home Alone. He was the cute little blond boy who was accidentally left behind when his family went on a Christmas vacation. Although they felt horrible, he was fiiiiiine…eating whatever he wanted, staying up late.  He even fended off two famous burglars with hilarious traps positioned throughout the house. This movie is filled with moments that’ll get the whole family laughing. ‘Till this day, it’s still a popular choice to pop into the DVD player during the holidays. If you want to keep this movie handy for a great family movie night, then head over to Target. Howie Dorough, 34 - He’s one of the singers from the Backstreet Boys…but he’s not one of the really popular ones. The thing with boy bands is that there’s one or two members that always stick out more than the rest. In videos and album covers, they’re usually in plain view and the rest of the members are kinda faded into the background. Sadly, I think Howie is one of the background guys. But hey, on the bright side, he does have amazing skin and hair! So when he does get a rare close up, he always looks very handsome. If you want baby smooth skin like Howie with dark rich hair, head over to ZIRH for men’s beauty products. Save 16% by redeeming ZIRH coupons when you spend $20 or more.

August 18th - It was on this day in history in 1967 that the Rolling Stones released the song We Love You.  Mick Jagger was quite the looker back then, but now he’s kinda scary looking. I don’t know if it’s because he stayed up way too late for many nights in his lifetime, or that he just doesn’t age nicely. If he used skincare products from Zirh for men throughout the years, he’d look years younger today. Head over there now and save 16% with Zirh coupons when you spend $20 or more.

1988 - Largest House with 130 Rooms Sold for $22 Million - That was my house!  It was…in my dream last night. I used to think about how nice a bigger house would be, but I’m not too sure I care for one so much anymore.  That’s just way too many rooms to furnish. Although, it wouldn’t be too expensive if I were to shop at Overstock.com. For low-priced furniture & home decor, use Overstock.com coupons and save $10 when you spend $150 or more.

Denis Leary, 51 - If you ever need a good laugh, Denis Leary is the best medicine for ya. He shoots out jokes effortlessly causing a ripple effect of laughter in the audience.  He’s also a movie star, writer and director. Recently, he was the voice of Diego, the sabre tooth tiger on Ice Age. I couldn’t think of a better voice match for that character. Both children and adults can enjoy Diego’s dark humor in this movie.
