A Frugal Guide on How to Plan a Football Party!

There’s no denying that NFL games are heating up. If you’ve already blown your weekly entertainment budget at the local pub, it’s time to bring the party home. Being a fan myself, I offer you tips on how and where to save on NFL party supplies.

If you’re looking for where to find NFL props for parties, your first stop is NFL Shop. Save 15% on $90 or more when you use NFL Shop coupons on jerseys, figurines, DVDs and collectibles.

Teamwork – A great option that works for big groups is to share hosting duties. Also, friends can bring food, drinks and snacks of their choice to share the costs. Just remember, when it comes to how to plan a football party, food and decor are the two most important things. So, let’s get ready to rumble (oops, wrong sport):

Decor & Supplies – Inject some liveliness into the place to give the guys and the gals an experience! The benefit of buying team themed decorations is that you can reuse them year after year if you’re a loyal fan, and get your full money’s worth.

If it’s your turn to host a tailgate party at home, check out our Target coupons to save $5 on $50 or more on a variety of home entertaining items for game day. Check out banners, beer pitchers and glasses, dip platters and slow cookers. Speaking of food…

Food – Have you tried sitting through a football game without munching on something? It’s virtually impossible! Most football fans expect some hearty grub like chili, meat and potatoes. However, who has the budget for this? I don’t recommend you trying making any of these dishes if you’ve never picked up a pan before in your life.

Here are some other ways to serve delicious food at a fraction of the cost:

  • Get Some Help – Know someone who’s a whiz in the kitchen? You buy the groceries at a discount grocery store & have them cook the food for you. Thank them by offering them a small token or inviting them to the party!
  • Pick Up the Order - Preorder the food and pick it up when you’re running other errands. Consider how many people you’re having & assume seconds for everyone. Don’t let your appetite order for you because you’ll have lots of leftovers.
  • Use Coupons – Ah, my favorite. I’m always in for a good deal & when you use Omaha Steaks coupons you save 10% on $100 or more on burgers, roasts, appetizers & more.

Throw a foolproof NFL party at home and score a touchdown of savings.

Save by Staying In: How to Throw the Perfect Girls Night In!

Staying in seems boring…right? Well ladies, I’ve got a list of ideas and applicable coupons on how to throw the perfect girls night in. I’m a natural homebody, so it’s easy for me to think of things to do on a girls night in. For those who love the social scene, I have to prove to them just how fun and resourceful it is throwing a girls night at home:

Testing the Waters

Take small steps. While you love your group of friends, they may not be the type of people who want to stay in to save a buck. So start off with the obvious: makeover nights (check out my post on beauty budget ideas), board game nights and, the obvious, girls night in dinners.

Movies, Books & Music Club

I can hear the moans from here! Well, this isn’t the typical idea to rent a bunch of sappy movies or listen to old tunes from way back in the day. I’m suggesting you make a club out of it. My friends and I recently started a Pop Culture Club and formed lists of books, movies and music we have yet to see, read or hear.

We watch the movies together and read on our own and discuss them collectively at our next club meeting. If you’re not into reading, then make it a Movie Club. When you use Netflix coupons, you can make it a frugal movie night in!

Blast from the Past

When I bump into my old friends, all we do is laugh and reminisce. So what I’m suggesting next on my Things to Do on a Girls Night In list is to invite a bunch of your oldest friends over and tell them to bring their yearbooks, videos and photo albums. Sit back and remember old times gone by. I also suggest you check out Omaha Steaks coupons and split the cost with your cohosts.

Talent Rotary

If you surround yourself with some pretty talented females (and are one yourself), swap talents once a week. Say you’re an amazing cook, your bestie might be an amazing cocktail maker. So make a plan to rotate talents each week so everyone gets to showcase their talents and learn something new!

Throwing a girls night in at home party is one of my favorite things to do because I believe in having fun with the company around you. More often than not, it’s your friends who make you have the time of your life. So try it out for yourself and make tons of memories when doing it!

January 14th Holidays – Your Pet Deserves to Look Sharp Like Its Owner! So Save 10% at Petco on Pet Apparel & More!

Dress up Your Pet Day – Although many people have pets or are animal lovers, not everyone enjoys dressing up their pet. They see it as weird or wrong. When my dog was little enough, we used to dress him in little boots and winter coats for the winter especially because his paws would get cold. Trust me, he hated wearing these ridiculous things; however, it did keep him from getting sick and coming inside with his wet paws! You can’t deny how popular this trend is in Hollywood nowadays. The pooch has become a red carpet accessory, and you better believe they’re dressed to the nines! Every time I think of this obsession, I think of the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. The part that cracks me up is when Kate Hudson shows up at Matthew McConaughey’s office with their new puppy, a Chinese Crested poodle, which is decked out in Burberry pet gear. Recently, I went shopping with my friend who is getting a puppy and we couldn’t believe the selection of pet clothes. We saw hair bows, Santa hats, capes, organic tees and bandanas. Mind you, my dog has 3/4 of the things I mentioned. Well, that’s besides the point! For all your pet apparel and accessories, discover Petco. Save 10% on Snoozer, Paws Aboard and Hunter pet apparel and accessories when you use Petco coupons.

National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day – MmMm. When I think of this type of sandwich, I think of two things: New York City and Joey Tribbiani. Why? Well because every time I sit down and watch Friends, Joey is eating a sangwich (as he calls it) and I have heard him say before he was eating hot pastrami on rye. The other thing I think of is New York City because it’s one of the top foods to have when visiting the Big Apple. I have not tasted a hot pastrami sandwich because I haven’t really gotten around to it yet! Pastrami is a lean meat cut from the brisket. In North America, pastrami is a popular choice on deli menus and is usually found in a Ruben sandwich. The traditional way to serve pastrami is with coleslaw, cheese and pickles. YUM! Now I said I never tried pastrami; however, I have tried its equivalent, salami and do enjoy it very much. In fact, it was very much a part of my upbringing because it is an Italian staple food item. Now I’m sure all this talk about pastrami on rye has made you remember all the times you took a bite into it. So you should totally reclaim your love for the pastrami sandwich by checking out Omaha Steaks. Save up to 66% on brisket cuts, roasts and burgers and more plus receive a free gift when you use Omaha Steaks coupons.

National Lager Day – Ahh, we’re celebrating a very relaxing (in my eyes) drink today. Any type of alcohol makes me tired so if I choose to participate in today’s holiday, then I’ll be sleeping like a baby in no time. Nonetheless, it’s National Lager Day, and if you didn’t know lager is one of two types of beer. The other is ale. Generally, more people like lager beer better. Why? I have no idea! To me, I find it interesting and a little annoying how there are so many variations of everything, including beer. Wine is another one that just boggles my mind! I never know what to bring people because there are so many options! Since we’re in the holiday season, you’re probably going to be making a trip to the liquor store and trying to decide what tastes best with the type of food you’re serving. From experience, it’s best to give people options. Not everyone drinks wine and prefer beer (or vice versa), soda or water (that’s me!). If you have your drinks set and instead need food ideas, check out Omaha Steaks to place your order for the holidays. Save up to 63% on gourmet steaks, chicken meals, fish platters and receive 12 free burgers when you use Omaha Steaks coupons.

Human Rights Day - Since I graduated with a degree in sociology, most of the topics covered in my courses led back to the theme of Human Rights. It’s an important issue to me since I highly emphasized it in many papers and presentations I worked on. I’m thankful I got the chance to study important world human rights issues which we don’t necessarily know of or hear of in our news programs. I came out of my program with a new appreciation for people who are not as fortunate as we are. Nonetheless, Human Rights Day was a day organized by the UN in 1948. Every year, the UN takes on a new theme. This year, since it’s the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights, the theme is “Dignity and justice for all.” This season, it’s important that we spend our time wisely and not take things and life for granted. It’s also a time to give from the goodness of your heart to loved ones and those less fortunate. With that being said, check out Bake Me A Wish. Receive overnight delivery on gourmet cakes and desserts with 5% of your online order going towards the Bake Me A Wish Foundation when you use Bake Me A Wish coupons.
