Haunted Refrigerator Day - Well, isn’t this an appropriate holiday to celebrate the day before Halloween? I tell ya, people will do anything to get a good scare. I’m not complaining. Once a year, I can appreciate a scare. Only once a year though! I’m a big scaredy cat. Growing up I used to think my house was haunted because the floors and my refrigerator would make squeaky and rumbling noises at all hours of the night. Well, that’s until we got a new refrigerator and the noises stopped. So, I’m pretty sure my refrigerator was suffering from old age! I don’t know what it is with haunted appliances that is so popular. Remember in Home Alone, Kevin was horrified of the washing machine? Since I used to believe any and everything I would watch when I was little, I believed that my laundry room was haunted as well and would try to avoid my basement as much as possible. Today on Haunted Refrigerator Day, perhaps you could see if you need an upgrade on your refrigerator and the best place to do that is at Overstock. Save $5 on discount LG refrigerators on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.
National Candy Corn Day - Candy corn is such a popular Halloween candy…then again, all candy is popular at Halloween! As you know, I watch the Food Network and I love seeing how things are made. The most interesting to me is candy. The way candy makers melt it in a huge pot, form it and then hardens is so cool! Every Halloween I tend to get a bit nostalgic and start reminiscing about things I used to do as a kid on Halloween. Eating candy of course was one of them; however, I always knew how to limit myself. Want to know why? Well, because I had to save room for chocolate, of course! I am a chocoholic. However, since it’s National Candy Corn Day and not National Chocolate Day, I suggest we stick to indulging in everything candy today. I’m sure you’re giving out candy corn tomorrow night to all the trick-or-treaters. Don’t forget to save some for yourself! Make sure you check out Drugstore.com after to get your teeth in pre-Halloween condition, you know, before you rotted them. Save $10 on discount tooth care, toothbrushes and personal care on orders of $50 or more when you use Drugstore.com coupons.

TV Talk Show Host Day - Today we’re celebrating TV Talk Show Host Day as it also is the birthday of late night talk show host, Johnny Carson of The Tonight Show. Being too young to have ever watched his show, I know that it was a huge hit and always had the best and most famous celebrity guests. The Tonight Show is now hosted by Jay Leno and will be taken over by Conan O’Brien next year. I am a huge fan of late night TV talk show hosts and sometimes find myself struggling to stay awake to watch these kings of late night comedy. That is not to disregard daytime talk show hosts. Some of these daytime talk show hosts have been on for twenty years plus…does Regis Philbin ring a bell? I love him! As you can see, TV talk show hosts have had a major influence on our television viewing experience and we always look forward to seeing their faces any time we turn on the TV! Speaking of…if you’re looking to maximize your talk show viewing experience, and need a new TV, check out Overstock! Save $5 on discount Philips and Toshiba HDTV and LCD televisions on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.
National Mole Day - I’ll resist my urge to quote Austin Powers in Goldmember…actually, I can’t help it! Moley, Moley, Moley! OK, so today we’re not celebrating those kinds of moles, we’re celebrating something different. National Mole Day recognizes Amadeo Avogardo’s number 6.02 x 10^23 which defines the number of particles in a mole. This scientific number translates into 6:02 10/23 (October 23rd). At first I was ready to give up on this holiday, except I realized how important this holiday is to chemists, teachers and chem students. Every October 23rd between 6:02am to 6:02pm, these chem enthusiasts celebrate by doing what they do best - teaching students the impact of chemistry in our daily lives. Although I may not know anything about scientific chemistry formulas or concepts, I do have respect for today’s holiday because I think it’s a cool holiday! Are you wondering how you’ll celebrate? Check out Hobbytron for science- and chemistry-related gadgets that’ll make you or a science lover you know really excited! Receive free ground shipping on science and chemistry laboratory kits and more when you use Hobbytron coupons.

Department Store Day - Ohh, I love department stores! They’re so inviting, full of great finds and are a one stop shopping experience. If I could do one thing, I’d probably wish to spend the night in a department store, or purposely get trapped in one! That always happens on TV or in movies, just not in my life. I don’t know about you, I feel so frustrated when I have to walk from store to store, from line up to line up and deal with unhelpful salespeople. Instead, when you shop at one big department store, the only thing you have to do is walk from floor to floor and aisle to aisle and pick up exactly what you need! This comes in handy if you’re a last-minute shopper around the holidays. Department stores are also great if you move into a new city and are unfamiliar with their shopping malls, yet as soon as you see a department store you know and love, you feel right at home! This happened to me so many times when traveling. Now for an online department store, I say you check out Overstock for everything from A to Z. Save $5 on discounted BCBG apparel, Toshiba electronics and Philips home appliances on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.
Dictionary Day - Today we’re celebrating Dictionary Day because Noah Webster, the Father of the American Dictionary was born on this day back in 1758. Have you put two and two together yet? Noah Webster…Webster dictionary…fascinating, huh? Interestingly enough, Noah Webster began writing the dictionary as a way to improve vocabulary which took him 27 years to finish. Imagine writing a book or paper that took you 27 years to complete? How does one have the motivation to finish it, because I know I couldn’t! Well, I would’ve finished it if I knew how many people still use and require dictionaries today. It is truly one of those books that no matter how many times you look at it, you find something new every time! At some point or another, everyone needs to consult a dictionary and it’s an essential for every household to have, whether you have young children in the house or not. So today on Dictionary Day, I suggest you head over to Indigo Books & Music and browse the huge selection of books. Save 34% on the latest edition of Webster and Oxford dictionaries on orders of $25 or more when you use Indigo Books & Music coupons.

October 14th - It was on this day in history in 1789 that George Washington proclaimed the first Thanksgiving Day. Well, it’s been moved further back to the 4th week of November now, however, in Canada this date has remained the same. So, since U.S. residents can still look forward to this fun-filled family day, I’ve got some coupons for those of you who are hosting the big day this year:
1926 - Children’s Book Winnie the Pooh Is First Published - I looooooove Winnie the Pooh and his little buddies. Tigger’s hyper like I am, and Piglet’s got that shyness I have when I first meet new people. I think that’s why both kids and adults love Winnie the Pooh, the characters are so relatable and lovable. I think Winnie the Pooh is the perfect theme for a baby’s room. Whether the baby’s a boy or girl, Winnie the Pooh decor is perfect! For Winnie the Pooh nursery furniture and decor, head over to Overstock for discounted baby furniture. Use exclusive Overstock coupons for $5 off when you spend $100 or more.

National Cake Decorating Day - This is a holiday I can really relate to. Cake decorating is such a fun and therapeutic way for me to be creative with my time. I’ve always had a knack for baking. Since my mom is a master baker, there was really no surprise when I began baking at the age of 6 with my Easy Bake Oven. Man, that was the greatest gift I ever received till this day. I was first introduced to cake decorating a few years back when I religiously watched this cake decorating show on the Food Network. This got me really interested and I began studying the art of cake decorating. I bought some books, read how-to articles online and practiced, practiced, practiced. My next step - taking a cake decorating class. They teach you so much more tricks and tips. I haven’t baked in a while so today I think I’m going to bake a cake and decorate it using fall colored frosting - chocolate and orange. I encourage you to do the same. Or…if you’re far from creative, then allow Davids Cookies to help you out. Save 15% on gourmet cakes, cheesecakes, cookie desserts on orders of $29 or more and free shipping when you use Davids Cookies coupons.
National Angel Food Cake Day - I know today’s holidays seem a little similar; however, it might just help you gain the confidence to try it out for yourself. Having made angel food cake before, I’m not going to pretend it’s not hard, because it is. It requires tons of preparation, a watchful eye and many ingredients. This is a heavy-duty recipe. To make a light and airy angel food cake, you require 16 egg whites (I told you it was a big recipe) and many other fancy shmancy ingredients like cream of tartar and pastry flour. Don’t be intimidated. If you really want to serve this up to guests and friends over the weekend, make it yourself. A store bought one doesn’t taste the same. Another important element of making this cake the traditional way is baking it in a specific cake pan - normally called a tube pan. It looks like a regular bundt pan, except the sides are a little higher up because the cake does rise quite a bit. If you don’t have one of these pans or are in need of a new mixer, take my advice and check out Overstock. Save $5 on discount bakeware, tube pans and mixers on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.

Everybody’s Day - That’s righttt! Today, it doesn’t have to be your birthday, anniversary or special occasion. It’s Everybody’s Day so everyone can celebrate TOGETHER! Historically, Everybody’s Day has been a celebrated event in Thomasville, North Carolina. Everybody goes to this 100 year old festival to take part in special events, activities and more fun. Just about everybody can go too! If you can’t make it to this festival, then decide on a way to celebrate in your city. Have you ever wished you shared a birthday with a close friend just so that you can throw the biggest bash of the year? Well, what’s stopping you from doing that today? NOTHING! I give you full permission (like you need it anyway) to celebrate Everybody’s Day by inviting a bunch of your friends, family and anyone else to your place…OR…get ready…your neighborhood park! Well, we’re celebrating Everybody’s Day which means you need a HUGE place to put everybody, right? Now that we’re on the same page, start thinking about a theme and carry that theme to your decorations. There’s just one thing: how will you tell everybody about this party? Check out VistaPrint and your problem is solved! Save 50% on discount custom party invitations, cards and more when you use VistaPrint coupons.
Confucius Day - I don’t need to go into a whole description of the man in today’s holiday. It’s Confucius, one of the greatest philosophers of all time (I think all philosophers were pretty great). There’s no escaping his teachings and wise sayings. I love quotations so therefore I’m a huge fan of his sayings. Although, you know how the saying goes “don’t believe everything you read,” well, it’s true. You’d normally find Confucius sayings in a fortune cookie and often times it would have a humorous twist to it. Chances are if you’re reading a humorous limerick that has Confucius’ name below it, it has most likely been slightly altered. I’m not sure why people would alter his teachings and sayings. I enjoy them the way they are - thought provoking and deep! We should totally celebrate today’s holiday by taking a glimpse at his famous life lessons and reflecting on them. OK, we’ll start with me since I have my personal favorite ready to go, it reads “Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart.” What’s your favorite? If you don’t have one and always wanted to read more about this philosopher (or others), then check out Overstock. Save $5 on discount books on a wide range of topics on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.

Swap Ideas Day - I’m sure that whatever you job title is, you’ve had to swap ideas at some point or another. Personally for me, I love swapping ideas because it gets my creative juices flowing and I feed off other people’s energy. However, I wasn’t always like this. I used to be quite the introvert, and in most of my classes in university, you wouldn’t know I was there since I was soo quiet in class discussions or debates. Now that I’m a bit older and have entered a more mature stage in my life, I am full of ideas, ready to share them whenever the time is right. The great thing about today is that we’re learning two important tools to use and apply in our everyday lives - sharing and thinking creatively. I don’t care who you are and how uncreative you may think you are, everyone has some ideas in them just waiting to be shared. If you still think you don’t have it in you, then I’m sure you and your friends (yes guys too) have shared one or two health and beauty secrets before. If this is the case, then check out Drugstore.com. Save $10 on discount makeup, personal and oral care and natural green products when you use Drugstore.com coupons and spend $50 or more.
Sewing Machine Day - Did I ever tell you how I’m inefficient when it comes to technology? Well, I am. And I know sewing machines were invented way before technology became an essential in our modern world; however, the sewing machine is yet another invention I cannot master for the life of me. Is it ever difficult… and um, wasn’t it invented to make people’s lives easier? HA! It just makes my life more stressful. I’m pretty good when it comes to learning new things. I tell ya, I’ve sat at my sewing machine at home for hours and hours (on several occasions) and could not figure this thing out. What am I going to do if I need to hem my pants and no one is around to do it for me? It’s a horrifying thought! Since today is sewing machine day, what better way to celebrate then by checking Overstock for the biggest (and I mean biggest) selection of sewing machines. Use Overstock coupons and save $10 on Singer and Brother sewing machines on orders of $150 or more.

National Beheading Day - I’m pretty sure this practice has been banned and eliminated from the system for like a century now, and something tells me I don’t think we should take this holiday too seriously. Instead, we should use this holiday as a warning. In our day-to-day relationships, we might step on the wrong toes which MAY result in the other person wanting to bite your head off. Take the most classic example of this happening…forgetting a birthday or anniversary. Uh oh…You forgot, didn’t you? EEK! Wait, don’t panic. It happens all the time. I have a few suggestions for you - number 1, get yourself a personal pocket size calendar and write down EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING so you won’t forget or miss another important occasion. Number 2, don’t show up empty handed, because if you weren’t beheaded for forgetting, you definitely will for not making it up to them. So, to avoid being the next one on the chopping block, then head to Zales where you can’t go wrong if you tried! Save 10% on diamond engagement rings, promise rings and more fine diamond jewelry when you use Zales coupons.
National Blueberry Popsicle Day - HM…I must’ve missed the memo on this creation! Doesn’t mean you should. Celebrate national blueberry popsicle day by heading to the corner store or grocery store and getting yourself a box of these sticks on ice. However, you know how much I love DIY (do it yourself) so I’m going to suggest you make blueberry popsicles…they’re easy, I promise. OH COME ON! All you have to do is blend blueberries, yogurt and some liquid, preferably juice (any kind). Then pour it into popsicle molds, add sticks and pop them in the freezer for a few hours. By the time you go check on them, guaranteed someone in your family already helped themselves to one. Want to know the best part? The combination of all three ingredients makes this dessert low in fat and pretty healthy if you ask me! So go ahead and indulge. I said go…now! Oh wait…you’re waiting for a deal…hmmm. Well, I’m going to suggest you check out Overstock for a nifty blender so you can start making healthy fruity drinks and shakes not just on popsicle day! Take advantage of Overstock coupons and save $5 on Hamilton Beach and Wolfgang Puck blenders when you spend $100 or more.

National Waffle Day - MmMmMm…Fluffy, toasty and gooey waffles. Wouldn’t you want to wake up to the smell of warm waffles on a lazy Sunday morning? I love being awoken by sweet homey smells from my kitchen, especially when my mom bakes. It gives me the biggest boost of energy. Instead of having to drag me out of bed with a crane, I jump right out of bed like a kid on Christmas day! Waffles are typically a breakfast food; however, recently, you can see tons of restaurants and dessert places serving waffles all day long. Now in my opinion, waffles are best topped with some sort of fresh berries and ice cream. Today, you should definitely wake up early and make waffles for your entire family. Or if you’re never awake before 12:00pm, then make a batch of waffles and serve them at night with ice cream. And I know where you can get the best waffle maker…Overstock! Get $5 off a discount Wolfgang Puck waffle maker, waffle and pancake cookbook and more when you spend $50 or more using Overstock coupons.
Can Opener Day - I know what you’re thinking: there’s actually a day to celebrate can openers? At the same time, why wouldn’t we celebrate can openers? They’re such an important tool in our everyday lives. They help us in times of weakness and desperateness. How many times have you been home alone and couldn’t open a jar of tomato sauce and relied on your handy dandy can opener? Cut the can openers some slack today…they deserve a holiday! Can openers usually have to be replaced at least once a year since we use them so often. So take a look in your utensil drawer and check out the condition of your current can opener. Does it look a little bent out of shape? Well then, celebrate today with a new addition to your can opener family by checking out Current Catalog. Save 10% on a discounted one touch can opener with free jar gripper on orders of $50 or more when you use Current Catalog coupons!

Bad Poetry Day - Poetry is hard enough to understand, you have to really dig deep for meanings sometimes. When people write bad poetry, it magnifies just how disconnected and out of tune they are. AHH! It drives me nuts. Now, bad poetry can mean two things: people who produce fake poetry and that cheesy, cliche, sarcastic poetry. I’m a sucker for the latter meaning. What can I say, I love reading ridiculous lines with corny suggestions. There’s no “reading in between the lines” for this kind of poetry. What you read is what you get, which is why I love it. Now, if you want to show someone you care, don’t write a poem if you had no previous experience doing so. If you’re really stuck on this poem idea, then get someone else to write it for you…but If you go that route, then it won’t be from the heart. Sooo, my suggestion is Diamond.com where you can get the perfect gift without making a fool out of yourself. YAYY!!! Use Diamond.com coupons to save 20% on discount diamond rings, bracelets, pendants, necklaces and more!
National Soft Ice Cream Day - Oh myyy! Soft ice cream = one happy camper. You know what’s funny (besides me)? I invented soft ice cream. I was about 5 years old and my ice cream was given to me in compact scoops, and in seconds it was one bowl of ice cream soup. So, direct all your thank-yous to ME - the inventory of soft ice cream. I just love soft ice cream because it’s so soothing. Are you planning on enjoying soft ice cream today? I know the weather this summer has been so unstable that it doesn’t really feel like summer at all, and you probably haven’t eaten that much ice cream like you normally do. Well, if this is the case, then hopefully wherever you are, the weather holds out so you can enjoy delicious soft ice cream. Now, depending on the weather, you’ll need bowls from Overstock, so you can serve soft ice cream if it’s a hot summer day, or hot steaming soup to warm up! Save $5 on discount ice cream bowls and soup bowls on orders of $100 or more when you use Overstock coupons.
