1223 – St. Francis of Assisi Assembles the 1st Nativity Scene in Greco, Italy – Some people go all out with their nativity scene. My dad builds a huge one in our basement that’s half the size of the living room. We once had the priest from our perish come by the house and he asked my father if he’d be interested in building a large nativity scene for the church every year. Ya, my dad really went all out. He still does. And lately I’ve noticed that people also display a large nativity scene in their front yard with Christmas lights that emphasize it. It’s beautiful to see these creations in person. If you’d like to start collecting nativity scene pieces to create your own display at home, then be sure to head over to Target. They have great sales during this time as the season will be over soon. So, use our free Target coupons for $5 off purchases of $50 or more.

Bake Cookies Day – Man, cookies are my ultimate indulgence. OK, I say that about many desserts! I absolutely love cookies. My coworkers would tell you that 99.9% of the time I have cookies on my desk. And they’re homemade too! Bake Cookies Day is just in time for the holiday season which, if you’re wondering, is one week away. One week to do everything, including baking? I haven’t started my shopping yet, how does this holiday expect me to bake cookies today? Well, I wouldn’t be in the sticky situation I’m in now if I was organized. A useful idea that my mom employs is setting a day each week leading up to Christmas to accomplish her many tasks. This week, coincidentally is baking week. In between all the hearty wholesome dinners you’ll be enjoying this season, it would be nice to munch on a cookie (or several) for dessert. Get your favorite cookie recipe…may I suggest sugar cookies? They’re classic, delicious and can be topped with anything. If you’re looking to replace your bakeware and cookingware for the upcoming year or need last-minute gifts, check out Smart Bargains. Save 10% on Appolia, French Home and Le Creuset bakeware and kitchenware gifts when you use Smart Bargains coupons.
National Roast Suckling Pig Day - Today’s holiday, if you want to call it that, is all about the roasted pig. As you know, I’m not a vegetarian, yet red dark meat kind of turns my stomach. Unfortunately for me, my family loves it! Well, I’m totally against eating pork since I love pigs. If you ask my mom, I love pigs so much that we share the same living situation - our rooms are both pig sties! Bada ching! No really, pigs are great. Especially piglets, which are the focus of today’s holiday…how sad. The first time I really took an interest in pigs was when I saw an episode of Full House in which Michelle had a pet pig, Scruffy. Oh man, he was so cute. After that, I wouldn’t make my parents hear the end of it. I wanted a pig as a pet and that was final. Instead, I got a dog. However, I have not given up my pig obsession and I’ll raise one on a farm one day. If you’re wondering how to celebrate today’s holiday, please refrain from eating a roast pig, and instead check out 1800PetMeds for your lovable pet. Save $10 on Advantage, Heartguard Plus, Frontline Plus and more pet supplies and medications on orders of $150 or more when you use 1800PetMeds coupons.

Santa’s List Day – Woohoo, I finally get to talk about Santa Claus! Man, he’s so jolly and great. And might I add, extremely generous. Well, he has been to me while I was growing up. Recently…um, not so much! There must be a cut-off age I wasn’t aware of that Santa stops visiting. Ah well. Today on Santa’s List Day, you should remind the child in your life to reflect on the past year and decide whether they’ve been naughty or nice. This holiday isn’t just for the kids. You’re old enough to judge your own behavior. You can’t hide because Santa sees and hears everything and that’s exactly what he’ll be doing today on Santa’s List Day. He’ll be making his list and checking it twice today so you better be on your best behavior. If you’re a parent and your child has been a little on the naughty side lately, then tell them they can redeem themselves by being good throughout the whole month of December. If you’re playing the role of Santa this year as one of his elves, then make sure you shop at Smart Bargains to pick up great deals for the whole family. Save 10% on discount Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton handbags and Ralph Lauren apparel when you use Smart Bargains coupons.
Wear Brown Shoes Day – Umm, to wear brown shoes or to not wear brown shoes. That is the question! Well, you do have to wear brown shoes because look at today’s holiday. In the morning when deciding on what to wear, you most likely gravitate towards your broken-in black shoes or running shoes if you commute to work. Now, if you’re looking for some change and want to match the season we’re currently in, wear brown shoes. In the world of fashion and according to Stacy and Clinton from What Not to Wear, brown is considered a neutral. That means you can pair brown with also just about anything. So you’re not really taking any chances, you’re just adding another neutral to your wardrobe. If you do wear brown shoes today, I must give you some pointers. Number 1 – your socks must be brown. Number 2 – your belt must also be brown to match your shoes. Number 3 – ladies, your purse or handbag must also be brown. I know I know, they’re difficult rules to stick by especially if you have to go out and buy each piece. However, it’s not so bad if you know where to shop so check out Steve Madden. Save 20% on men’s and women’s Steve Madden footwear, bags, belts and accessories when you use Steve Madden coupons.

Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day – Everyone’s different and has their own special talents that they developed throughout the years or were just born with. I know you must’ve heard this before growing up especially if you ever felt like you weren’t good at anything. As this holiday suggests, everyone is good at something and has their own unique talent to showcase to the world. I’m good at doing a bunch of different things which is sort of good because at least I know I’m flexible and can adapt to a bunch of different things if I really set my mind to it. How about you? Are you a gifted singer? An inspirational artist? A great writer? A great mom or dad? Hey, nowadays, being talented doesn’t mean you have to win a bunch of awards and be recognized or acknowledged on a national scale. If you’re great at balancing things, then that’s a great talent to have in our busy world. There’s no need to feel discouraged. You can totally participate in today’s holiday! One of my many talents is finding great deals you can’t pass up for anything. So go check out Boden because you should look great while doing whatever you’re talented at! Save 12% on discount Boden apparel and accessories for the whole family plus receive free shipping when you use Boden coupons.
National Sardines Day - P - U! I hate sardines. The way they look, smell and taste. They give me the creeps. Unfortunately for me, my dad happens to be a huge fan of sardines and ruins the holidays for me by adding sardines to his meal. The smell overpowers the delicious aromas of the house, and I can’t taste anything except sardines. UGH! Nonetheless, instead of talking about them the whole time, I’ll talk about how I’m known for using the word sardines to describe being cramped up in packed malls and streets. If I knew what it felt like to be inside a sardine can, then I swear it’s the same feeling I get when I’m squashed in between tons of people who are pushing and shoving. NOT FUN! This tends to happen during the holidays. Everyone waits till the last minute and crowds the malls, grocery stores and liquor stores, and its complete chaos. If you’re smart and want to avoid feeling like you’re in a sardine can, then I say you do all or most of your shopping online. You’ll get so much more shopping done quicker, and if you use my suggestion and check out Smart Bargains, you can save on tons of items for the whole family. Save 10% on Movado jewelry, Burberry fragrances, D&G apparel and accessories and more when you use Smart Bargains coupons.

November 20th – It was on this day in history in 1969 that Pele scored his 1000th soccer goal. That’s a lot of goals considering how challenging it usually is to get through defenders, while trying to remain onside, and looking for the best possible angle to make sure that ball’s placed perfectly for a goal. To do all that 1000 times is a huge accomplishment in my eyes. If your passion for soccer is as intense as Pele’s, then make your way over to Dicks Sporting Goods today for the best soccer gear like cleats, shin guards, apparel and much more. Redeem exclusive Dicks Sporting Goods coupons to score a 15% discount!
1981 – Ringo Releases Stop and Smell the Roses Album – When I’m overtired and visit my doctor to make sure everything’s alright, she smiles at me and says: “Everything’s fine; you just need to learn to relax. Stop and smell the roses, ya know?” Well, I’d love to stop and smell the rose but then my nose tickles, my eyes get inflamed, my throat feels extremely scratchy…and who has time to stop and smell roses anyway? I’m kidding. The message my doctor was relaying to me is the same that’s in this song: our lives are insanely busy, and we often forget to sit back and take a breather sometimes. So, if you’re not a floral-type person, then light some scented candles in your home and put on a nature-sounds CD or some slow jazz. Get all these relaxing products at Target for $5 off when you spend $50 or more. Just redeem free Target coupons to claim this hot offer.

World Kindness Day - If there’s a holiday theme I love more than food holidays, it has to be holidays that encourage acts of kindness and doing good onto others. It seems we’ve all got places to go and people to see, and it’s very rare to hear someone say “thank you” after another has held the door or elevator for them. Nonetheless, it’s important that we at least try to show some human compassion and be kind to one another. It doesn’t have to be in a big way. As long as you do it from your heart, then you’ve more than completed the task of being kind. Today’s holiday was the result of the first World Kindness Movement conference founded in Japan which declared World Kindness Day November 13th. This is a pretty big deal around the world where there are over 15 member countries who also celebrate this holiday. So wherever you are, you have no excuse not to celebrate. My way of being kind is by telling you about Smart Bargains. Save 10% on discount Christian Dior handbags, Gucci jewelry and Cuisinart appliances when you use Smart Bargains coupons.
National Indian Pudding Day – Now, I bet some of you are totally lost at today’s next holiday. Indian pudding…you haven’t heard of it? Well, that’s because it’s not as popular as it should be. Who am I to talk? I’ve never actually tried it; however, researching this holiday made me quite interested in it. Indian pudding originated in Boston and is a classic New England Thanksgiving dessert. So you know what that means? You can totally serve it at this year’s Thanksgiving. Quite simply, it’s a baked custard (sounds delicious already), made of milk, butter (score!), molasses, eggs, cornmeal and spices are optional. Now, as you start making it, don’t be turned off at its sight. It’s one of those fooling desserts that don’t look half as good as it tastes. Well, Thanksgiving is two weeks away. Are your recipes in order? If not, here’s your reminder to check out Current Catalog for everything you need to make a successful and scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner. Save 10% on discount cookbooks, party supplies and thank you cards on orders of $50 or more when you use Current Catalog coupons.
